Not that it matters for the Celtics. Yes, in the department of "Who's the new guy? He looks kinda familiar," Celtics forward Wally Szczerbiak returned to basketball after a lengthy time-out.
It looked like it might be a good night for the Celtics. They were matching Agent Zero and the Wizards (sounds like a '50s band name) through the third quarter. And then it all unraveled as Wizards did their thing, and the they defeated the Celtics 105 to 91.
Last night's loss means that the Celtics are still on track to break the record for the longest losing streak the Celtics have ever seen. They've lost 11 in a row, and they'll tie the last losing streak with unlucky number 13.
What is going on here? Sure, they want to get a good draft pick, but they're already in the basement with the Grizzlies. They've got a decent draft pick lined up, so how about playing for pride?
In more losing news, the Bruins lost 3 to 1 to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. Marc Savard threw his stick to block a goal from Senator Antoine Vermette. The officials ruled Savard's move a no-no and gave the Senators an in-your-face point.
The Red Sox are now sniffing around Rockies first baseman Todd Helton. If the trade shakes out, Helton will join the Red Sox, and third baseman Mike Lowell and reliever Julian Tavarez will go to the Rockies. Helton said that he wouldn't mind going to the Red Sox. That line is so coy that Helton might be fit to hang with the "King of Coy" himself, Curt Schilling.
This one is risky. He's known for his high averages, but that might be because of Colorado's high altitudes. And he's expensive. His salary last year was $16,600,000. After spending so lavishly on Dice-K, is there enough room left in the Red Sox wallet?
