It all Comes Back to Harvard

barackobama-cool.jpgIf it hasn't been drilled into your head by now let us be the umpteen thousandth to tell you - Barack Obama went to Harvard Law. He was the first black president of the Harvard Law review. He is currently a US Senator from Illinois. He's also running for President of the United States, well, at least he's formed an exploratory committee to seek the Democratic nomination (thanks two-party system). Last week the New York Times ran an article about Obama's time at Harvard Law, the Globe followed it up with a similarly toned article on Sunday. Likely the two papers shared a bit, they're owned by the same folks so it's no surprise if editorial privilege is shared in sourcing their articles. Charles Ogletree Jr., a Harvard prof, was quoted in both articles with praise of the Illinois Senator. From the Boston Globe:

Barack was a stabilizing influence in that he would absolutely support those efforts, but was also someone who could discuss and debate them with students or faculty who had different views,
Along with the glowing review of Obama's time at the helm of the Harvard Law Review and time as a law student in Cambridge overall came an interactive graphic from the New York Times. The flash graphic allows mouseovers to identify where the other members of Obama's Law Review colleagues are now. Of the seventy other people pictured in the photograph there are only ten highlighted – from the articles it seemed as though the Harvard Law Review was a group destined for fame and fortune, yet the times only identifies a little under 15% of them. So much for that theory. One thing we'd really like to know is the identity of the woman pictured below and directly to the right of Obama – she looks a whole lot like Janet Reno but we know it can't be (she was Harvard Law, but started in 1960).

Image of the Senator from Illinois looking to be too cool for school is in the public domain. Thanks US Government for the image.
