Celtics? Forget about it. Hockey is now clamoring for our attention with the Beanpot finale scheduled tomorrow night, a Bruins victory over the Islanders (4-3), and a four-player trade between the Bruins and the Calgary Flames.
Brad Stuart and Wayne Primeau are headed to Canada, while the Bruins will get Andrew Ference and Chuck Kobasew, who are cheaper. According to the Globe and Mail, Calgary may be the losers in the trade because they are sacrificing "a little bit of the Flames' future [with the promising Ference and Kobasew] to get better in the here and now."
The Bruins wanted to unload Stuart because of difficulties in re-signing him to the team. So the feelings around that trade seem to be mutual. However, Primeau may have been less willing to move: "[Bruins GM] Chiarelli said that Primeau, who wasn't available for comment, was 'very upset' when he was informed of the trade. Primeau was one of the more popular players in the dressing room and a vocal leader."
The Globe served up its Matsuzaka edition this morning, complete with thoughts on where people can find good Japanese food around here. Unfortunately, the article basically says "the Japanese food here isn't as good as New York's." To which Bostonist says, you probably have a kitchen, so a) make it yourself or b) move to New York and quit whining about it.
Speaking of the food-sports connection, there seems to be a lot of needless concern about Dice-K's tummy. He told reporters, "One of the things I was most worried about in coming over here was obviously the food. But to my surprise, I found the vegetables are great, the fish tastes great." He's gonna be fine, folks. Before long, he'll be knocking back the chowdah.
