The Celtics had a chance to win last night. The Minnesota Timberwolves lost to the Memphis Grizzlies, for crying out loud. They could have taken this one.
And they almost did, were it not for sloppy play in the last moments that put the ball in the hands of former Celtic Ricky Davis, who nailed a shot with 0.2 seconds left and helped the T-Wolves beat the Celtics 109 to 107, continuing the Celtics' 18-game losing streak.
Andrew Ayres at ESPN.com said Davis' shot was so easy it looked like he was "hailing a cab."
To make matters worse, Ricky Davis said of his ex-teammates, "I feel sorry for all of them." In a real gonna-miss-me-when-I'm-gone moment, Davis then said, "If they didn't make the trade [that sent Davis over to the T-Wolves], it probably would have been different."
Davis may as well have capped that line off by sticking out his tongue. It's hard to blame him, though.
On the bright side, the Celtics will be playing Milwaukee on Wednesday. They can take Milwaukee, right? And we'll have plenty of BC-BU Beanpot action tomorrow!
