Boston Blotter: Bingo Is Our Name-O
A four-hour standoff took place yesterday in Roxbury after gunfire came from a house. The BPD posted a warning yesterday asking media to lay off airing helicopter footage of the house, which the Globe described as a home belonging to an alleged "Cape Verdean gang associate." Luckily, the standoff ended peacefully, and four men turned themselves in. And then the media was allowed to send in the cameras!
Things did not turn out as well in Roxbury last night when a drive-by shooting erupted, killing one person and injuring three. But the BPD has already rounded up suspects.
The weird crime of the day went down in Brewster. A man learned that bingo and booze don't mix. He got soused either before or during a bingo game at Our Lady of the Cape Parish, and, when an officer was summoned, he bit the officer on the hand. As fast as you could say "bingo," the guy was in trouble.
All charges are alleged until proven under law. Image of a bingo card from Humane Society Yukon.
