Yeah. We know the New York Islanders don't use their angry-fisherman logo anymore. But we love it, and can't help ourselves. The Bruins last night held tough with the Gorton's Gang, but the Isles racked up three quick goals in the third period and sent the B's packing 4-1. They'll play the Sabres, seemingly for the 43rd time this season, tomorrow night.
The Celtics, finally able to breathe again, turn their eyes to Gerald Green and the Slam-Dunk Contest this weekend. Dee Brown has some advice for Gerald. Bill Simmons, as you might expect, is fired up about the NBA All-Stars descending on Las Vegas. Rumors that the Eastern Conference All-Star team will be awarded the 4-seed in the Western Conference playoffs are untrue.
In today's papers, Dan Shaughnessy writes a column talking about how silly it is that so many people are paying so much attention to Daisuke Matsuzaka. Jeff Horrigan sticks to the facts, including this gem from the Honshu hurler:
When one Japanese reporter asked what he planned to throw for his first pitch in his spring training debut, he paused and quipped (in part): “I will throw a fastball. And I would like my first batter, if he’s listening, to try not to hit the ball.”
Ask Schilling the same question, you'd better change the batteries in your tape recorder.
