Live Nude News Anchors!

bianca-de-la-garza.jpgWell, not exactly. But that was our reaction when we found out that Hustler "honored" Fox 25 news reporter Bianca De La Garza as an anchorbabe.

De La Garza wound up on a page in Hustler with the caption "make sure you don’t grab the wrong remote while watching her deliver the news." And the Hustler readers are bound to be disappointed because she's all clothed and not at all involved with the magazine. Talk about false advertising!

Do people write similar captions about hot male newscasters? Does VB make you want to grab the wrong remote? Or anything else? Don't answer that!

Let's change the subject. Since when were news anchors and reporters intended to arouse? They're supposed to be purposeful and authoritative. They're like parents or teachers. Even the newscasters on the fluff shows like Entertainment Tonight or E! News Daily have this plastic, impenetrable perkiness that screams anything but sex.

Maybe it's the rise of good-lookin' male news reporters like Anderson Cooper getting the Vanity Fair treatment. Even Stephen "Man Meat" Colbert smoldered (ironically) in People and GQ. And poor De La Garza gets stuck in Hustler. What's next? Jim Lehrer in Playgirl?

Bostonians can get a little misty about their news anchors. When Frances Rivera and her News Team took over on WLVI, some folks on the Globe's message board turned the conversation to how Rivera had nothin' on Maria Stephanos, which then turned into a comment about the utter foxiness of Maria Stephanos, and so forth.

That's not the point. News is like medicine – you are supposed to watch it and learn something instead of "reaching for the wrong remote" (ew).
