If you join the BPD, you'll be busy if the recent blotter is any indication. A hit-and-run in Jamaica Plain resulted in the death of a currently unidentified male.

Also yesterday, what looked like a hit-and-run based on the report was actually a shooting that left a man dead.

But don't let that put you off if you're thinking of joining the BPD. There's always the dumb-criminal moments that lighten the mood. And, who knows? You may get to work with the person who cooks up great headlines for BPD news. We especially like today's "Duck … Duck … DUMB!" The incident itself wasn't that funny - two guys were in a car and ducked suspiciously, immediately arousing suspicion. The police ran a search and found that the car was stolen.

Last, but not least, the BPD reminds criminals that "Returning to the Scene Never a Good Idea." You'd think aspiring criminals would have learned that from watching television.

Beyond Boston, in Wareham, officers caught a man who is accused of stabbing a woman eight times when she got out of the car to clean her windshield. Her attacker just wanted her purse.
