Idol Camp Summers in the Commonwealth

idolcampweb.jpgThe latest enterprise in the Idol brand comes to Massachusetts this summer. Many college, university, and even boarding school facilities go dormant over the summer as the students are on break. To monopolize on the bricks and mortar they already own it's time to rent out the facilities to camps of all sorts. This year way out in Western, Mass the town of Northfield will play host to Idol Camp. The Northfield Campus of the Northfield Mount Hermon School will serve as the home base, though the school is not sponsoring the camp, likely just reaping revenue from rental of their facilities.

Have you ever dreamed about being the next American Idol?
This summer, you'll have the chance to learn some of the skills you'll need in ten magic-filled days at the ultimate summer camp: Idol Camp.
Show former Idols, performing artists, and inspiring teachers what you're made of. They'll show you how to take your skills to the next level, and help you on your way to stardom.
These magic-filled days are going for only $290 per day – full tuition is $2900 (!) for the ten day boarding camp (meals are included. whew) plus the non-refundable $35 application fee. If people start sending their kids to Idol Camp it might mean missing out on those first few weeks of the season when we get to discover gems like William Hung. It will likely prove to be just another music camp for kids with new branding and d-list (at best) celebrities and an astounding price tag.
