Boston Blotter: The Laundry Isn't Worth It!

laundry.jpgWe were curious about why a Boston College student wound up with a stab wound over the weekend. Turns out two women got into a fight over who got to use the dorm dryer. The women let their rage stew for a few days, and then the real violence began. The Boston College student paper reports that a parent was "egging on" the situation:

Upon returning to Vanderslice Hall, the victim found Jones and the parent waiting for her in the foyer by the Mods. The fighting turned physical in front of about five eyewitnesses, said the source, and Jones pinned the victim to the floor. At this point, one girl who was an eyewitness yelled, "Put that away - you don't need that right now," probably in reference to the knife used in the stabbing, said the source.

Later, the student was found with stab wounds deep enough to puncture her lung. Needless to say, Boston College has suspended the attacker. No word yet about what the college will do about the parent. The entire story shows how quickly a small dispute can get out of hand. You might have to log in, but the story is fascinating reading.

Elsewhere, perhaps the entire city needs a reminder on fire safety, from landlords checking the wiring in their apartments to people knowing what to do during a chilly blackout. A four-alarm fire erupted last night in Dorchester, and the cause appears to be faulty wiring.

All charges are alleged until proven under law. Image of laundry - which we didn't realize made people angry and violent - from Flickr user Haurum.
