Boston Blotter: Don't Panic

dontpanic.jpgDid you see how there was another weird, but harmless, device spotted and destroyed on city streets this morning? And it didn't cause a fuss? Apparently it was a "traffic-counting device" or "pedestrian counter." Whatever it was, at least it didn't give Boston residents the finger.

Police nabbed the teenagers who stabbed another teenager at the Back Bay T stop. It was inevitable that they were going to get caught. It appears to have been gang-related. Speaking for the T, Joseph Pesaturo said, "The victim, they have determined, has no ties to a gang. But the victim apparently had trouble with a person associated with the gang or who is in a gang."

So, didn't the commissioner mention working on a gang truce? Gang-related stabbings in T stops should accelerate the negotiations.

This hasn't been a good month for security in the local courtrooms. After the attempted escape of a suspect who was about to enter a Barnstable courthouse, now a guy stabbed his own lawyer in Norfolk Superior Court with a plexiglass object. It seems as if the court took appropriate precautions, but this guy was unstoppable – he was in leg irons, and he still found a way to attack. Does the guy love jail? We sure hope so.

And yet another food delivery person got robbed on Rutland Street. The BPD was talking to the suspect and got an ID from the radio and from the victim. Yes, they carry food, and, yes, they carry cash – but they can't carry that much cash. Everyone keep an eye out on your local delivery person.

All charges alleged until proven under law. Image of "Don't Panic" T-shirt in honor of Douglas Adams from Pegasus Publishing. We'll probably need to recycle it for future potentially panicky incidents!
