--As Bostonist reported last night, two young men were stabbed and one left in critical condition at the Back Bay T stop. The incident shut down the station for almost two hours.
When this happened last time at the same T stop, Bostonist asked, "What's the MBTA going to do to follow up? And what will the BPD do?"
Whatever they did, it didn't work. What really struck us was the fact that no one was caught on the scene. The Globe reported that the stabbing took place on the platform, like last time. But WBZ said police thought it happened on the train.
Yet where were the BPD or the MBTA police to stop the attacker or attackers as they tried to flee the scene? WCVB reported, "A 911 caller told police that a man stabbed two male teenagers many times, then ran up the escalator." Running up the escalator takes time. If the fight started on the car, which is still to be determined, then wouldn't a driver have had the chance to phone the information to someone above ground to get down there?
We've seen MBTA police respond quickly and admirably to medical emergencies. In one morning rush-hour case, someone notified the driver of a problem, the driver contacted the police, and the affected individual was taken to the hospital, all in a matter of minutes. So, why couldn't someone respond quickly enough to stop the attacker from getting away?
--Later last night, in unrelated incidents, two men were shot at Bailey Street and the intersection of Geneva and Olney, respectively. What a rotten night.
--Two teenagers are accused of kidnapping a teacher and threatening her with a knife. On Monday, the alleged little brats stopped by the home of one of their former teachers and asked for a ride. The teacher said she'd help them out, and, when they got in the car, they thanked her by putting a knife to her neck and trying to rob her.
All charges alleged until proven under law.
