--Police still haven't found the assailant who stabbed two teenagers at the Back Bay T stop. However, they have increased patrols on the Orange Line, which is much appreciated. WCVB rounded up comments from T riders, and one of them had some excellent advice: ""I think the problem is they depend too much on technology. They need to communicate." And, may we add, they need to treat each T line like a beat and walk it.
On the plus side, the T will be hiring 34 new officers and increasing patrols on Orange Line trains and stops
It also emerged in the Globe that the attacker was able to escape so easily because there was only one MBTA officer at the Back Bay T stop at the time, according to the deputy chief of the transit police.
--A standoff between an armed man and police ended peacefully yesterday in Dorchester. It didn't start well: EMTs responded to a call yesterday morning, and, when they arrived at the triple-decker involved, a man inside started shooting at them.
Luckily, no one got hit, but this behavior drew the attention of the police, who spent hours trying to talk the guy outside. When talking did not work, they filled his apartment with pepper spray. Turns out the guy was off his meds, and guns and crazy do not mix.
--Wednesday was an unusually fluid day for criminals. Police were called to the scene of a dispute in which one person threw a cup of coffee on another. Since police did see evidence of coffee on the victim's face and the angry fluid-wielding assailant was still present, they did take someone into custody.
And then, a thug-in-training tried to act like he owned the city by spitting at officers who told him and his buddies to stop loitering (largely because the teens were under a "No Loitering" sign). When told to stop, the kid kept spitting. Officers promptly showed him who was really in charge by taking him in.
--Last of all, we are totally in love with the line a guy gave an officer yesterday when they caught him with a stolen vehicle: "Some dude gave me the car."
All charges are alleged until proven under law. VHS cover from Amazon.
