Boston Blotter: Teenagers Whipping Out the Norbecker

beer-norbecker.jpgAfter this weekend's roundup of 22 teenagers at a ragin' house party, police officers appear to be sensitive to kids being kids. (We wish they would be more sensitive to kids stabbing each other, but we digress.)

The latest teen-party-related arrest earns serious points for creativity. Two underage drinkers set up a plan to steal beer from refrigerators in open garages. The Walpole Daily News Transcript writes, "Police think two local teenagers allegedly caught stealing beer out of a refrigerator in a woman's open garage Saturday afternoon may be responsible for a rash of similar cases reported in town since November 2006."

So, if you have a loosely secured garage, and you've noticed a few cans or maybe a case missing and thought you might be turning alcoholic, it might not be you. It might be those kids who've been hanging out in your yard.

The Daily news Transcript also deserves propers for a magnificent headline: "Two Busted for Beer Banditry." The Herald countered with "2 Teens Arrested in Walpole Beer Grab."

In far less entertaining news, some jackass in Brockton delivered a threatening hate-filled, anti-Semitic, racist paper to doorsteps all over Brockton. Not funny. And residents are pissed.

Last of all is a crime-prevention move in Dorchester that is now getting coverage. A smart judge has banned cellphones in the Dorchester courthouse because someone snapped photos of a witness. This might give the "Stop Snitchin'" movement a real blow. If this reduces witness intimidation, other courts should follow suit.

All charges alleged until proven under law. Image from the movie Beer because we can't get enough of it - the image, that is.
