--As Quinntessa Blackwell died, the victim of a shooting in broad daylight, she uttered the words, "Cedric." And the young man who got shot at Centre and Highland was named "Cedrick."
The revenge motive automatically springs to mind. Local media started putting two and two together right away.
Boston isn't Dodge City, and, no matter how the movies glamorize it, vigilante justice isn't the best idea. Besides, what if the killer or killers got the wrong Cedrick?
--At least something on the lighter side happened – yet another beer heist! Beer heists appear to be the next big thing in Massachusetts Crime after those teenagers got busted lifting beer from a neighbor's garage fridge.
In Billerica, beer burglars did a little more damage by tossing a rock through a convenience-store window in order to get some beer. The law is taking advantage of the Internets, and they've posted surveillance video of the beer burglars on YouTube.
--Heard all the news about the bastard who got caught on tape for mugging an elderly woman in New York City? Well, someone in Brockton is trying to top him – he mugged a 57-year-old woman in a wheelchair.
The mugger beat on the woman and stole $750. The woman, who is paralyzed, told WCVB, "I know one thing. I will never go out by myself again." How pathetic do you have to be to pick on someone in a wheelchair?
--Impending bad weather tends to bring fire as people find ways to stay warm. Unfortunately, a young man died in an apartment fire in Brookline today. An out-of-towner went to an off-campus BU party, and, when a fire broke out, he was trapped in the closet. Two homeless people were also found critically burned in a Roxbury parking lot. It appears that they were a couple and that they set each other on fire.
All charges alleged until proven under law. Image from Amazon.com.
