Sports Redux: The Eagle Lands Again

bc-eagle.JPGGeorgetown took Boston College out of the NCAA tournament, 62 to 55. All in all, it wasn't a bad showing, especially since one of BC's big guns, Sean Williams, got suspended earlier in the season. We could wonder what might have been with Williams around, but it probably wouldn't have made a difference. Roy Hibbert, of the Hoyas, was just too much to deal with. The dude is 7-foot-2!

But all was not lost in the world of Boston basketball. The Celtics finally fulfilled the promise they showed when they played the Mavericks. They beat the San Antonio Spurs 91 to 85, which is a mighty big deal since it was a looooong time since the Celtics beat the Spurs. Paul Pierce was the star last night, scoring 30 points.

We wish that we could say some positive words about the Bruins. They lost last night against the New York Rangers. Since that's the case, we could give them the Boston College treatment and applaud them for their hustle. But we won't because they don't deserve it. The headline in the Globe says it all: Bruins Are 'Embarrassing.' They lost to the Rangers 7 to 0 in an unbelievably ugly game.

Fluto Shinzawa of the Globe went to town on the Bruins and served up some intense insults such as the following: "The Bruins resembled yesterday's merry attendees of New York's St. Patrick's Day Parade, bumbling around the ice like they had swigged a few too many pregame pints." Clearly, the Bruins blew off the game, and fans should take that as an insult. Maybe you should retire your jerseys until next season.
