Sports Redux: Ro-Coco!

032507_coco_crisps.jpg--Red Sox center fielder Coco Crisp is making the publicity rounds to remind everyone that he is back and ready to play after being hampered with a busted finger. He is also saying that he doesn't care what you, the fan, think about him: "I don’t care if people think I suck or they think I’m good. I just go out there and have fun, and hopefully the ball falls. . . . If the people think I’m good, then thank you. And if they think I suck, then thank you anyway. I don’t really care, you know?”

We like our players laid-back, but there's just the slightest tang of defensiveness in his voice, especially since Crisp hasn't had the chance to prove himself. But he's off to a good start with a strong showing yesterday against the Devil Rays, in which the Red Sox tied the Devil Rays 1 to 1.

--The Bruins lost again to the Rangers, 2 to 1 in a shootout. Well, having a shootout means that at least they tried a little bit. Maybe it was coach Dave Lewis' new strategy. The guy has tried pretty much everything, and now he is threatening the players with youth. He's brought up some fellas from Providence, and Lewis said to the older players, "Pay attention, there's other players in the organization that want your job. [The call-ups] want to show that they can play here. Everyone who comes up wants to stay."

--The Celtics are probably wiping drool from the corners of their mouths right about now. The NBA prospect whose last name is not Durant is still flying high in the NCAA tournament. Greg Oden and Ohio State vanquished Memphis to move on to the Final Four.
