--The outrage over Chiara Levin's murder is growing. Like Quinntessa Blackwell, Levin wasn't the "intended target," according to police.
But no one is talking – and no one has adequately explained why it took so long to take Levin to Boston Medical Center early Saturday morning. She was shot in the head, so it wasn't as if there was a question of whether or not she needed to go to the hospital. To get people talking, subpoenas have been served. And where are the friends who were with her when she rode from the Caprice Lounge to the Dorchester party?
Mayor Menino is also speaking out: “It makes you sick. It’s just outrageous. And what’s most outrageous is that people aren’t coming forward with information. If they really care about this young woman they should tell us what they know.” If only all murders in Dorchester aroused that kind of public emotion in the mayor. But we'll be optimistic and hope this incident leads to an overall reduction in gun violence in Boston.
--It's always the ones you least suspect, isn't it? A 60-year-old Boy Scout leader and father of five from Norton has been arrested for child porn charges. As is typical in such stories, John Ready got nabbed on the Internet, probably the handiest tool ever when it comes to rounding up pervy perps.
All charges alleged until proven under law.
