Alberto Gonzales Putting on a Happy Face in Boston

033107_alberto_gonzales.jpgAttorney General Alberto Gonzales has a lot to worry about. His former chief of staff testified that Gonzales played a part in firing federal prosecutors because they leaned too hard on Republicans and weren't sufficiently supportive of President George W. Bush.

We thought we lived in a democracy, not a kingdom where you have to lick the boots of the emperor to keep your job. But that's another matter entirely. While all this scandal was swirling around him, Gonzales decided to visit Boston yesterday to talk about something completely unrelated to firing people for doing their jobs too well.

The Globe tried to get something out of Gonzales about the prosecutor-firing scandal, but he was more interested in "educating teenage girls about online dangers." Joined by "about a dozen district attorneys, FBI agents, and postal officials," Gonzales watched public service announcements about pedophiles.

We think protecting young people from online predators is extremely important, but it seems to us that Gonzales was engaging in a classic bipartisan political strategy of bailing for a new city and focusing on children in peril to dodge some bigger questions. And, lucky us, he chose Boston to try out this strategy.

WCVB's Pam Cross knew what was what, saying, "it was probably the boost the attorney general wanted - a room full of friendly faces in Boston and no questions about how he's running the justice department in Washington DC." Afterward, Gonzales tried out that folksy "here's the Texas truth, y'all" stuff of which the Bush Administration is so fond and said, "I know that the motivations for the decisions I made were not based on improper reasons."

Well, that must be why he left DC and tried to talk about pedophiles in Boston! We feel so much better about the honesty of the Justice Department now!

Greetings.
What is necessary to address is not that 8 prosecutors were fired for specious reasons, but that the replacements are NOT being properly scrutinized. Are the new "Bushies" NOW ENGAGING IN POLITICALLY INSPIRED ATTACK-DOG PROSECUTIONS, NOW THAT THEY ARE INSPIRED THAT THEIR BROTHER, BUSH, is fully on board in putting a "LOCAL" face on what is a nationally driven New World Order. This surveillance and prosecutorial police state, with everyone's internet, credit, medical, and life histories available to EVERY investigator of the local mason lodges, is a sickening thing, a real convolution and perversion of our constitutional democracy. Apparently, Gonzales still believes he can assemble a handful of sexual predators in each city he appears in, lecture us on how dangerous it is to have a teen on MySpace, trot out the "50,000 predators on line every day" story run by Dateline, and expect us to forget what a lying piece of crap both he an Bush really are. A pack of liars who shall be disassembled by even average historians.
And what IS THE SINGLE PROSECUTION WHICH DID NOT OCCUR WHICH TRIGGERED THE BUSH PURGE? What is it that is driving bush up a wall? Why is he CONSUMED with prosecutions that never materialized, and does he have a HIDDEN PROSECUTORIAL AGENDA, setting the climate, circumstance, condition, and situation whereby THAT ONE PROSECUTION THAT HE SO DESPERATELY SEEKS ACTUALLY OCCURS?
Something is bugging his stupid ass, and Gonzales is just the ethics free lout that would be of perfect utility in a achieving this hallowed prosecutorial goal before he is run out of office by impeachment. And Disbarment for Gonzales is truly an equally worthy cause, having been so duplicitous to all the brothers he falsely swears to ally himself with.

Impeach the liars
