We recently received e-mails proudly announcing the impending arrival of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters on April 13. Even if you didn't notice the - ahem - little problem promotions for the ATHF movie caused in Boston, and even if you've never heard of ATHF, the movie sounds like fun, and the full-length cartoon features the voices of Bruce Campbell and Neil Peart of Rush.
But, in our rush to learn more about the movie whose lite-brite publicity campaign brought Boston to a halt such a short time ago and to see if the movie was any good, we wondered what happened to the guys who got caught hanging the lite brites.
Unfortunately, the court case of Peter Berdovsky and Sean Stevens hasn't been resolved. While they were just hired to carry out the orders of marketing company Interference Inc., they might still face time for hanging the signs. Attorney General Martha Coakley is after them, and they'll be back in court May 11. We don't know what point she's trying to make. Cartoon Network and Interference Inc. already paid up.
Berdovsky and Stevens appear to be truckin' on like nothing happened. Both have abundant samples of their artwork on their websites, zebbler.com and seanstevens.com. They also had a gig at the Linwood on Friday night in which they provided the visual accompaniment to electronic music. They're self-described "VJs" - not in the early MTV sense, but in the sense that they add to the musical experience with their visuals.
Here's how the Herald described it: "Their plan: make psychedelic sights to match the big-beat sound, by capturing crowd reaction on video, feeding it through a video mixer and projecting it onto three large screens."
Sounds like trippy, but harmless, club stuff to us. Now maybe Martha Coakley can lay off them so all of us can go about our business and forget the whole thing happened. Or, we'll forget the whole thing happened once the movie's been out for a while.
Images of Peter Berdovsky looking happy, sad, or thoughtful are everywhere, but we're still attached to the image of the Happy Peter as he was leaving the courthouse right after the ATHF fiasco.

Boston Seventh Strangest City in U.S.

This is Martha Coakley's usual approach -- never admit a mistake, find some scapegoat to prosecute, and ignore all appeals to justice, common sense, or sanity. And now she gets to do it state-wide instead of just in Middlesex County.
What happened to the people who designed the LED signs? Martha Coakley decided not to arrest or prosecute them. What about the people who decided that the signs should be placed on bridges? No arrest, no prosecution. What about the guy who placed a fake pipe bomb at a hospital that same day? No arrest, no prosecution. It's insane, and it's absolutely typical Martha Coakley.
I've asked the following question in my blog, mrontemp:
"There's been a whole bunch of fuss about the costs that the city and state had to pay ON the date of the fiasco, but how much money has been spent SINCE the fiasco? How much are Massachusetts taxpayers paying every day as Coakley et al pursue this case? How many threats to society are being kept out of Charlestown Court as this case is occupying valuable space? Perhaps the taxpayers of Massachusetts may start to get a little curious."
