The Good Time Emporium has a fascinating name, doesn't it? The Emporium has been the site of a coke bust, a fatal shooting yesterday, and a pepper-spray incident, which we'll get to in a minute. They don’t call it "New England's Largest Indoor Entertainment Destination" for nothing.
--George P. Hassett of the Somerville News reports that a police officer had a bad time at Good Time yesterday morning when a drunken customer got hold of the officer's pepper spray and sprayed him in the face with it. The officer was busy trying to cuff the customer, a struggle ensued, and the customer let loose with the pepper spray.
That part of the incident isn't special. Drunks get tossed out of places all the time. But Hassett notes the drunk's parting lines as he was escorted from Good Times: "On his way out of Good Time Emporium, he allegedly told police about soon 'becoming rich' and that 'no one will believe I did anything wrong.'" Dyn-O-Mite!
--The Good Time Emporium has kept the Somerville News busy. Hassett had more about the customer who was shot after leaving the establishment yesterday morning. A man from Somerville was shot when a car containing him and his friends pulled up to an intersection, and a man from Randolph was arrested.
--Police prevented a bad time at the Beantown Bounce dance competition in Roxbury yesterday afternoon. Some individuals in a car parked outside decided they wanted to settle something right then and there - and in front of what the BPD estimated at 2,000 people. (The Herald estimated 3,000.) A person flashed a weapon, the cops moved in, and three people were arrested.
When the BPD describes the incident, there's little fanfare, but, given the crowd present at the event, the Herald was justified in calling it "an arrest worthy of a Hollywood movie."
