Boston Blotter: Police Officer's Thigh Not on the Menu

mc_gruff.jpgEarly yesterday morning, the BPD was summoned to the Mansion Night Club for a disturbance. Two men from Billerica were involved in a brawl, and one of the men must have decided he really wanted to go to jail because he took a bite out of an officer's thigh.

There's no indication on the BPD blog of how large the bite was or whether or not the officer had to go to the hospital for an injury - but whoever typed up the blotter may have given a subliminal indication when writing that one perp was charged with "Disturbing the Peach."

--It wasn't a good weekend for officer safety. A Mattapan hot-rodder is in hot water after leading police on a wild chase through the city yesterday evening. Kevin Barrow injured four police officers and the unfortunate driver whose Honda Barrow hit head-on. The impact was so bad that the victim had to be removed with the Jaws of Life and suffered serious injuries.

Barrow must have been on a mission worthy of Death Race 2000. Officers ladled on the charges: "Three counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, driving to endanger, refusal to stop for police officers, leaving the scene of an accident with personal injuries, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest." We bet his momma is proud.

--The men arrested for shooting Chiara Levin, Manuel Andrade and Casimiro Barros, are being held without bail.

--It might get harder for teenagers to bully witnesses. Norfolk County District Attorney William R. Keating has proposed a bill that could put juvies in prison for 10 years for witness intimidation. Maybe someone should make a T-shirt that says "STOP Stop Snitchin'."
