Back on the E-Auction Block

volvo.JPGWe told you a couple of weeks ago about how Boston punk cabaret artist ("musician" doesn't seem to sum it up quite right) Amanda Palmer tried in vain to auction off her 1992 Volvo.

It wasn't that Palmer couldn't find any takers - considering that the blue station wagon has been featured in Dresden Dolls video and held Palmer and fellow Doll Brian Vigilone as "Coin-Operated Boy" was conceived, there were a bunch of bids when the auction was taken offline. The word was that Ebay thought the item belonged under the automotive category, not music memorabilia.

The good news for Dolls fans is that the auction is now back online under "eBay Motors," which pretty much means that the Ebay powers that be won out in the end, as far as categorizing goes, Nevertheless, fans can bid on the car, which doesn't run at the moment, but Palmer notes that with a few hundred dollars' work, it should be operational. Half of the proceeds from the auction will go to MoveOn.org. Last we checked, the bid count was up to 34 and $830 was top bid.

"It is my dream that if nobody actually gets it fixed to use as their car for the next few years then somebody will buy it and use it as a flower planter, a piece of burning man kindling, or a writing desk," Palmer wrote in the item description.

Seriously. If someone uses it as a flower planter, we want photos.
