Flomenbaum Loses Body - And Job

six-feet-under.jpgThe Chief Medical Examiner whose South End morgue was an absolute nightmare of health hazards was finally suspended from office yesterday.

Mark Flomenbaum and his office pushed the Patrick administration over the edge by losing a body. Patrick said, "There is some explaining that is owed us and owed the family." That's an understatement (of which Deval is a master!).

A source told the Globe that the body belongs to Thomas E. Brissette, who was found dead in South Yarmouth and who was being autopsied because no one witnessed his death, and he was 49 at the time of death. State Police are now in charge of looking for the body.

And how does one lose a body? In Flomenbaum's office, anything is possible. Judging from the reports the last time Flomenbaum was in trouble, it's like Six Feet Under, Weekend at Bernie's, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre all wrapped up in one over there.

We've written about the Flomenbaum saga in the past. The state medical examiner's office got in trouble in March because bodies were piling up, and employees had to deal with "a constant stench of decomposition" and pools of blood and fluids on the floor.
