--Three separate stabbing incidents tied up the BPD last night. Later in the evening, a man was found in the South End with stab wounds. He's in stable condition. Then another man was found stabbed in the back in the South End and was taken to the hospital. A man was found stabbed early this morning in Mattapan, and he later died of his injuries.
--Citizens of Medford and Somerville must be relieved. Police arrested the individual who had been assaulting women in the area. 19-year-old Nicolas Chacon turned himself in at the Medford police station and is facing five sexual assault charges.
--Alas, when one perp gets caught, another pops up in his place. An elderly woman from Quincy was raped by a man who broke into her apartment.
--A Westminster man who "pinned his girlfriend to a wall with an all-terrain vehicle and killed her with an ax" has received life in prison. He'll have a chance for parole in 15 years. Given the brutality of the case, even the slightest chance at parole seems generous.
--Not satisfied with copper, some perps who will do anything for money have gone beyond stealing pipes - they're stealing bronze statues and memorials for 9/11 victims. In Abington, someone stole a sculpture of a little girl reading from the front of the library. In Falmouth, someone stole a plaque praising the life of Neilie Casey.
Casey's stepfather asked, "How can anybody stoop so low?" Good question. Oh, and Ted Kennedy is mad about it, too.
