Boston Blotter: Sylvester Mitchell Case Has BPD Ties

crime-scene.jpgThe stabbing murder of Sylvester Mitchell is still bubbling. Police questioned Sharon Fitzpatrick, Mitchell's wife, and then they took out an arrest warrant for her. The BPD waited until the last paragraph of the blotter to note one shocking detail - Fitzpatrick worked for the BPD as a dispatcher. Needless to say, she's on leave.

Fitzpatrick has turned herself in. Police are stressing that they haven't shown Fitzpatrick any special treatment.

Fitzpatrick allegedly had a history of abusing her husband, and he may have been getting ready to file for divorce.

--Two men got shot last night, one in Jamaica Plain, and one in Dorchester. They're expected to live.

--A woman died yesterday morning in a fight in a Fairhaven beach parking lot. Sherry Calheta, 22, was hit by a car and sustained a head injury.

--In Marlboro, employees found a grenade in a hotel yesterday. Luckily, it was a false alarm, and the grenade had been turned into a paperweight. We're not sure where someone gets the bright idea to turn a grenade into a decorative object.

All charges alleged until proven under law.

Hey, come on down to Roslindale and ask the boys at the Rialto Barber Shop to show you their artillery shell doorstop. If you're nice, they'll even give you a Tootsie Pop.
