Emerge Spa and Salon opened its doors on Newbury street about a year ago and recently Bostonist had the opportunity to experience the best the Spa has to offer. Having once been to its sister salon, G20, Bostonist expected nothing but the best and Emerge didn't disappoint.
Immediately, Bostonist was whisked up to the third floor while the representative explained such offerings as the roof garden, and the fireside lounge, juice bar and cafe. Weather didn't permit enjoyment the roof deck, so we snacked on strawberries and grapes in a robe waiting for the Kur treatment to begin.
Kur, a relaxing healing tradition practiced in Europe, combines body scrubs, wraps, baths, and massages. The treatment began with a thermal mineral seaweed bath that targeted specific muscles and joints. Karen, Bostonist's masseuse, presented a choice of minerals and scents and explained that each is absorbed into the skin and contains vital minerals and algae that stimulate the body's circulation while helping to detoxify.
After a half hour in the bath, Bostonist was taken to a treatment room and given an hour long full body exfoliation with a soothing chamomile body scrub followed by a massage. This favorite part of the treatment - the service was very deliberate, professional and skilled. Bostonist was beyond relaxed and stumbled after attempting to get up after the treatment.
Bostonist was extremely impressed with the experience at Emerge. With educated staff, a luxurious environment, and unique treatments, Emerge is one of Boston's best spas. An oasis in the middle of an urban desert, Emerge is a destination spa situated directly in the center of our metropolitan landscape.
