American troops keep dying in Iraq, and that includes several troops from Massachusetts. A Lawrence family is left wondering if their son is dead or captured, and a well-known BU professor who spoke out against the war lost his son.
Alex Jimenez of Lawrence is one of three soldiers who are missing after an ambush in Mahmoudiya that left four soldiers and a translator dead. One soldier who has died has not been identified, which means Jimenez may be among the dead rather than the missing.
Andrew Bacevich was an aide for Mitt Romney. He was killed Sunday in an IED attack in Salah Ad Din Province. His father was a war veteran and a professor of International Relations at Boston University. Professor Bacevich's latest book is titled The New American Militarism: How Americans Are Seduced by War.
Bacevich's story made headlines because he worked for Romney and his father spoke out, but the following is a list of our local troops who have died since the fourth anniversary of the Iraq War:
Anthony Palermo - Army Captain, Brockton, 26, died April 6
Adam P. Kennedy - Army Sergeant, Norfolk, 25, died April 8
