An Unfortunate Reading With Daniel Handler

Daniel Handler has killed Lemony Snicket. Well, it really isn't as bad as all that, but Daniel Handler recently retired his alter ego, who became famous writing the children's "A Series of Unfortunate Events."

Handler now appears to be back writing for grownups. His latest novel for them is Adverbs. However, he has said in interviews that he will keep on writing children's books.

The Onion AV Club said of Adverbs: "It starts out with a story of obsession that seems generically plotted and pretentiously written, all postmodern repetition and poetic gushiness." That sounds awful to us, but then the AV Club writes that the collection of tales on love slowly improves as you go. And, besides, with a reading like this, you get the bang for your buck - Daniel Handler and Lemony Snicket.
