Nina's Heavenly Delights will screen at 7:45 pm on Sunday, May 20. Both movies will be at the MFA's Remis Auditorium.
The Gay & Lesbian Film Festival caps off with Nina's Heavenly Delights, which gives something old a new twist.
No indie plot could be more cliché than a wayward child returning to the family fold. But Nina's Heavenly Delights changes it up when a Scottish woman returns to her family after the patriarch dies. It's up to her to save the family restaurant by winning a national curry competition, but she gets a little distracted when she falls in love with the woman who now co-owns the family restaurant.
Lo and behold, the food-sex-family plot triangle is covered - with a twist. Reviews have said that this romantic comedy isn't especially deep, but it looks like a pleasant summer treat. Director Pratibha Parmar will also be there to talk about the movie.
