Boston Blotter: Beer Holdup!

beer-norbecker.jpgWe've seen teenagers sneaking beer out of neighbors' garage fridges. We've seen people stealing the equipment used to brew beer. But we've never heard of a beer holdup.

The BPD reports that a guy was walking out of a convenience store in East Boston with a 12-pack when another guy told him "to hand over the beer or something bad was going to happen." The victim figured a 12-pack of beer wasn't worth dying over, so he gave it to the robber and then called police. A 17-year-old from East Boston was arrested.

--A brawl erupted in a courtroom when a defendant punched a juror. Richard Glawson was on trial for many, many incidents that he managed to pack into an awfully short span of time back in 2001: "He robbed a Roxbury home, started a shootout at the Chestnut Hill Mall, carjacked a woman, broke into a home, shot a disabled man’s dog, carjacked two more vehicles and shot a Dedham cop in the hand."

It appears that he wanted to put the icing on the cake last Friday. Last Friday, while jurors were leaving the courtroom, Glawson punched an elderly male juror. We guess Glawson really wanted to stay in jail. The judge refused a mistrial, so his wish will most likely be granted.

--A 21-year-old man was shot in Somerville early this morning. Now, shootings happen all the time, but what's interesting is that it happened in Somerville, but it didn't involve the Good Time Emporium. We thought you should know.

All charges alleged until proven under law.
