Gordon Brown, who is taking over for Tony Blair as British prime minister, has apparently visited Cape Cod a few times, which means Senators Kennedy and Kerry are eager to lay claim to the PM's time. He doesn't have a place there, but they're already assuming that Brown will come back.
Ted Kennedy really wants Gordon Brown to sit next to him in the Cape Cod cafeteria. He released a statement calling Brown one of his "best friends on the Cape." The Cape Cod Times leaps right into the realm of daydream by asking, "Could Cape Cod become known as Downing Street West?"
Later in the piece, the Times worried that there might not be "enough brown to go around."
Hey, we're all for it if the new British leader forges an alignment with leaders who want out of Iraq. But did it seem odd to you that people from Massachusetts, the heart of the American Revolution, are excited that future British PM Gordon Brown likes to summer at Cape Cod? It's not that the guy should be shunned, but is it really that big of a deal?
Image of Gordon Brown from Britain's Treasury site. Bet he looks great in a polo shirt.
