--A Boston police officer got hit during a shoot-out with alleged gang members in Dorchester last night. Stephen Romano, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, was hit in the chest but will survive.
The shooting started when police interfaced with Antonio Franklin and Durrell Curry. Franklin shot Romano, and then a state trooper on the scene returned fire and hit Franklin, leaving him in critical condition, but Curry escaped.
The Herald had a disturbing detail. After being shot, Franklin was laughing at the fact that he shot a cop. What an asshole. He'll find all of it quite funny when he's in jail.
--While the shooting of an officer by a gang member might not have anything to do with it, it's interesting that the BPD rounded up 25 members of the "Lucerne Street Doggz." Whatever happened to simple names like Crips and Bloods?
--The dynamic duo who got in trouble for climbing to the top of the State House dome to take some pictures won't be punished too hard. Boston College students Francisco Martin and Mehidi Hashambhoy must each perform 40 hours of community service and contribute $1,000 each to a textbook fund.
--Turns out that Marilyn Camacho, the 40-year-old woman who joined three teenagers in beating up another teen at the Natick Mall, was the mother of the three teens. Needless to say, the victim of the pugnacious Camachos is calling them "pathetic." And that is sad. First, the little Camacho ladies should know to how to stand up for themselves. Second, Mom should be fighting women who are currently in her league.
All charges alleged until proven under law.
