Pats Player Dies in Jet Ski Accident

052807_hill.jpg--New England Patriots player Marquise Hill died last night after a jet ski accident. While jet skiing in Lake Ponchartrain, Louisiana, he and a woman "hit a wave and fell off."

Hill, a defensive end, rescued the woman, who couldn't swim. He got her to a pylon, but then he vanished as a boat tried to reach him. Numerous agencies tried to find him, but, unfortunately, the Coast Guard called off the search for Hill and later recovered his body.

According to a New Orleans radio station, neither Hill nor his companion were wearing life jackets. But Hill knew the turf, as he was from the area. The woman, who has not been identified, said that Hill kept her calm immediately after they fell off.

Those who worked with Hill are already reacting. Patriots owner Robert Kraft said in a statement, "We are all shocked." Cornerback Randall Gay echoed those words and said, "This is going to be hard for a lot of people."

Hill played for Louisiana State University and was a second-round pick for the Patriots in the 2004 draft.
