Boston Blotter: Revenge of the Nerds

053107_nerds.jpg--Some student pranksters are in big trouble at Holliston High School because they broke into the principal's office – and the school's computer system. They may face criminal charges, but other students are calling for a boycott of the graduation ceremonies if the students aren't allowed to walk.

They're honor students, which probably caused the punishment to be worse. WHDH quoted one graduate of the school as saying, "If you're that smart, you should know that it's probably not the smartest idea."

We hope these students got into MIT. They'll fit right in.

--Richard Glawson, who shoved a juror and prompted a retrial, got his retrial - and then he took it to another level by threatening to kill the new jury.

Glawson had the cojones to petition for another mistrial. He is now taking in his trial while being "chained to the floor in a special chair."

--Katelyn Hoyt, the girlfriend of the late Paul Farris, was also injured in this weekend's police-chase crash in Somerville. She is in critical condition, but she doesn't have health insurance. Her boyfriend's father is stepping up to the plate to help her by establishing a fund in her name. Here is the address if you are interested in making a contribution:
Farris-Hoyt Care Fund
T.D. Banknorth, 95 Highland Avenue
Needham, MA, 02494

News has also emerged about the driver of the cab that was struck by Javier Morales' SUV. Walid Chahine, originally of Lebanon, is in "extremely critical condition." He is on life support. Has anyone heard of a fund being set up for Chahine? He also has little insurance, a wife, and a child. We e-mailed Joe Dwinnell at the Herald, and he got back to us, saying he hasn't heard of a fund for Chahine yet.

--In Canton, a 19-year-old disabled man who lives in the Massachusetts Hospital School, which helps care for the disabled, went missing on Monday. He was found, but no one noticed for six hours, and then they finally called the police. A nurse and a nurse's aide have been suspended. The patient became stuck in his chair and hurt his knee when he attempted to crawl back home.

--The body of an MIT student who has been missing since April has been found in Amherst at Skinner State Park. Although searchers looked for Ryan Davis in the area, hikers just now came across him.

All charges alleged until proven under law. Image of Revenge of the Nerds soundtrack from Amazon.
