Pride Starts This Weekend

After a rocky start when the fundraising chair stepped down when the Weekly Dig noted that he was a registered sex offender (whoops!), Pride is back on track and not looking back. The full Pride Week schedule is available at the Boston Pride site, but we've highlighted some of the best events:

--Flag Raising Over City Hall Plaza: today, 12 noon

--Puppy Pride Costume Contest: Saturday, June 2, 11 am to 1 pm at Faneuil Hall

--Pride Idol Finals: Wednesday, June 6, 7pm - 10 pm, at Back Bay Grand. You want over-the-top singing? By golly, you're gonna get it.

--Boston Pride Parade: Saturday, June 9, at noon, followed by the Boston Pride Festival at City Hall Plaza. We bet that the Pride presence will make the wasteland of City Hall Plaza look ever so much nicer.

--And one late-breaking cancellation announced on the website - the Edwards Twins won't be at the Berklee Performance Center on Friday, June 8, after all.

And there's a new parade route this year, so take a look at the map before you head out. Then again, is it really possible to miss a Pride parade because it's too quiet?

This year's Pride theme is "Ask. Tell." Logo from the official Boston Pride site.
