Machete fever continues. This time, the owner of Pao Brasil bakery in Marlborough wielded a machete against a perp who was trying to break into his establishment.
Dilson Lopes must have been fed up because this was the fourth break in he's had to deal with. The man had had enough. Galen Moore of the MetroWest Daily News takes it from there: "The 40-year-old father of three did what any business owner would do: He called the police. Then he reached for his machete."
Because all business owners keep machetes handy, right?
Lopes caught the perp red-handed. Luckily, the sight of the machete was enough to keep the robber in line until the police showed up.
--Investigators have ruled that the body found recently in Mattapan was shot to death. Mariotis Harris was only 17 years old. His grieving mother said he had plans to go into electronics and was trying to make changes in his life before someone attacked him. She also said, "They can run from me, but they can't run from God."
--Nothing causes panic in Massachusetts like the mere suggestion of an explosion. A man brought two rockets and a grenade to the parking lot of the Attleboro police station yesterday, which prompted an evacuation. And then the Dedham Hilton was evacuated because someone left out packages that said "explosive devices" on them.
