Gloretta Baynes, the woman who claimed that local lawyer Stephen Kunian groped her and exposed her bra during the ICA opening party, has decided not to pursue her assault charges against him, so the DA is going to drop it.
She offered to settle for $500,000, but Kunian refused to pay and vowed to fight it. He said he was just admiring the necklace she was wearing, so he "reached over to touch the necklace" and didn't touch anything else.
Kunian's lawyer said she still isn't getting anything and defended his client: "She has not received the promise of a dime from us. I said it was a shakedown before, and I'll say it again."
When this whole mess started, Kunian's lawyer said earlier, "I don't make counter offers to shakedowns."
Baynes' lawyer says she's not up for trial. In a case that was looking like a serious he-said/she-said brawl, it was bound to get ugly.
