Boston Blotter: Pastor Allegedly Killed by Husband

033107_body_outline.jpgThis is a bit out of our geographical reach, blotter-wise, but a pastor was stabbed to death by her own husband in Great Barrington.

Esther Dozier, a pastor for the Clinton AME Zion church, was found stabbed to death yesterday morning. Her husband, Henry, told police he took poison and went to the hospital. He pled not guilty to the crime.

News reports mentioned Dozier's contributions to society: "Esther Dozier helped create an African-American Heritage Trail that extends through the Berkshires from Pittsfield to the Connecticut line."

--Somerville police had it really easy with a bank robbery yesterday. The aspiring robber passed a note to a teller, and, if you check out the surveillance image on WBZ, his mug is out there for the whole world to see. (And so's his "wifebeater" – and wifebeaters can make anyone stand out.) The robber then went home, and some sort of disturbance broke out. Police went, saw his face, put two and two together, and got him. We don't know if he was still wearing the wifebeater at the time.

--Speaking of conspicuous crime, the BPD blotter was awash with perps who didn't realize that, when one commits a crime, one should do one's best to be forgotten. However, in several different incidents, perps robbed individuals on yellow "mo-peds" and while wearing "an orange and yellow polo shirt." (Hey, at least no one involved in those crimes were wearing wifebeaters.)

Since the perps were so memorable, they were easily rounded up. And we're so excited by the BPD's twist on the word "moped" that we're thinking of using "mo-ped" from now on. "MO-ped!"

--And we have a special message for the pickpocket who swiped an iPod and then waved it at the victim while running off – karma just bit you in the butt, pal.

--We let this slide a day or two because we couldn't believe it, but there are too few jurors in Suffolk County. Reasons include fewer citizens in the area and too many students who aren't around when it's their turn to serve.

All charges alleged until proven under law.
