Boston Blotter: Hatchets and Handcuffs

061407_hatchet.jpg--A man has been sentenced to two years in jail for threatening a teenager with a hatchet after fighting over a pump position at a Revere gas station, according to a release from the DA's office. The message? Rein in your temper, especially if there's a sharp object nearby. That goes for hatchets and machetes.

DA Daniel Conley said in a classic understatement, "The decision to keep a hatchet in one’s vehicle is bizarre, but to threaten its use over something so small as a perceived slight at a gas station is simply unacceptable." It's just bad manners.

--The body pulled from the Charles River by some workers in Newton has been identified. Karlen Goukassian of Newton disappeared two years ago while off to see friends. No word yet on the cause of death or how his body wound up in the river.

--The BPD has announced that Michael Hansbury, a man assaulted on Tuesday night in Mattapan, has died. The Herald describes the cause of death as a "sucker punch" from a teenager.
