The Boston Pops are mixing things up with the lineup for EdgeFest, the now-annual collaborative endeavor between indie/alternative musicians and the symphony. The Pops sent out a news release today that said the planned "M Ward and Friends" shows on June 26 and 27 have been postponed, so as to allow everyone to have enough time to "create the best possible arrangements for this unique collaboration."
That said, those looking forward to seeing some music genre-meshing on those dates can still make a trip out to Symphony Hall. Hem, a folk/country quartet based out of Brooklyn, will be taking over the M Ward dates. One could argue that it's not a huge shift in genres, given that M Ward is a folkie indie fellow in his own right, with music that often gives nods to classic country.
Dates on June 23 and 24 with Cowboy Junkies remain as is - some first balcony seats are now avaialble for $20 - and all EdgeFest shows will be followed by performances by local acts at what the Pops are calling the Edge Cafe. Thom Moran (Bon Savants) and Chris Pureka are slated to perform on June 23 and 24; Mieka Pauley and Chad Perrone will appear on June 26 and 27.
