Boston Blotter: Speaking of Bashing, Fights at Fenway!

--Last night, Bostonist attended the Red Sox-Giants game. As you know by now, the Red Sox pounded Barry Bonds and Company into pulp.

Since the game was so lopsided, what was happening in the stands was far more exciting than what was happening in the field. Hatred of Barry Bonds and his alleged steroid use triggered a series of fights among Giants and Red Sox fans.

Security was busy all night taking mouthy fans down the bleacher stairs. Bostonist overheard one person on a cell phone breathlessly telling a friend, "I've never seen this many people get tossed in my life!"

Bostonist was able to snap pictures of a melee in which a Red Sox fan let his beer do the talking. He yelled to an equally aggressive Giants fan, "Welcome to Boston! YEAH! Welcome to Boston! This is Boston!" The unimpressed Giants fan said he knew that he was in Boston. He then asked if the self-proclaimed Boston resident wanted to take it out of the ballpark. Security and uniformed BPD wound up escorting four people out. And that was only the beginning.

--It's not as weird as the story of the bloody bit of towel in a Munchies Cheese Fix bag, but a Brockton mom is saying that she discovered wood chips in three cans of baby formula. It appears that the baby is fine, but the mother is talking to Nestle.

--On the BPD blotter, some schlep led police on a chase down Blue Hill Avenue. Police wisely decided to stop the chase (perhaps learning lessons from the recent tragedy in Somerville). And, of course, the perp stopped himself on Dudley Street by plowing into a church yard and striking a statue of St. Patrick.

--A creep took advantage of a teenager whose car stalled by the side of the road in Franklin. While she was by her car, the guy pulled up in his auto, stepped out, and offered to help.

Instead of behaving like a good Samaritan, he expected something sexual in return. The teenager was able to escape. Police say the man was driving a white van. (What is it about pervs and white vans? Is it just us?)

All charges alleged until proven under law. Image of a security guard who was actually very cool and forgiving until things got ugly. Photo by Caroline Roberts. You can view the whole Fenway Park slideshow at Flickr.
