Watch Mitt: Crazy Eyes

Usually we're bringing you the Mitt Watch on this little corner of the internet. Today we're watching Mitt in his new ad for Mitt Watch. We're still too many months away before actual voting in the 2008 election cycle begins to start putting any faith in poll numbers. Political ads generally tend to bore us, but since it's time to start planning the Fourth of July BBQ patriotism may have taken over – for 24 seconds until the crazy eyes appeared. The script sounds like some of Romney's camp. staff decided that he needed a hip edge and "work hard" was beat out by "work like crazy." If you watch close in the below video with about 6 seconds left in the video Romney uses the phrase "work like crazy" and simultaneously widens his eyes and gives a fairly scary hungry look of yearning for the White House. If this was last summer we'd expect a mash-up in the next 12 hours with some Gnarls Barkley, but alas we can only dream.

For the politicos – listen closely to what he says when they flash "Lower Tax Rates" in the ad – he says "lower the marginal tax rate." Marginal tax rates only usually make it into the discussion when you're talking about the top income earners – higher marginal tax rates mean the top income earners pay more taxes. Lowering the marginal tax rate moves towards a flat tax system.
