Ah, we were so close to having former Providence mayor and convict Buddy Cianci living and working in this fair city after he got out of the joint. But he decided to take a job closer to home.
We can reflect on what might have been if Buddy were to go Boston with Cherry Arnold's 2005 documentary Buddy, which follows the infamous politician and, according to the Phoenix, portrays him as the "consummate survivor."
Arnold followed Cianci for a year to figure out why a man who attacked a man with a fire log and who was convicted on conspiracy could be re-elected and so adored.
Hearing about Cianci's never-a-dull-moment reign over Providence makes us wonder why Mayor Menino can't be as exciting. Then again, maybe we should be glad that Menino isn't.
