--A man was shot and killed yesterday afternoon in Dorchester on Nottingham Street. The 39-year-old man was a resident of the neighborhood and has been called "Jo Jo." A neighbor told the Globe, "In his heart, he was a good man. He cared."
This is the 30th murder of the year.
--Yesterday morning, the feds came down hard on the "Kendall Street Thugs," a gang operating out of Framingham.
The twenty gang members are accused of the standard gang crimes, but even our eyebrows shot up at the news that the Kendall Street Thugs were able to move a kilo of coke a week. But they must not have been that bright because they discussed their activities on MySpace.
Bostonist would like to step aside and speak to the criminals of the world who read this blog. After several months of writing this blotter, we would like to tell you that if you don't want to get caught THEN DON'T USE MYSPACE. Do you really want a police officer joining your friend network? Think about it. Okey-dokey.
--Speaking of kilos, police caught four Somerville perps with a kilo of heroin, "enough of the drug to make 97,000 individual $5 packets." We're just happy that the incident had nothing to do with the Good Time Emporium.
--A man got a little too excited while holding up a TD Banknorth in Auburn yesterday morning. He opened fire. No one got hurt, and the man got caught in a police chase.
--Some schmuck mugged a 71-year-old woman Wednesday night in Newton. He grabbed the woman's head and smashed it into her car door. WBZ reports that she gave him a good fight, but she became unconscious and had to go to the hospital. The man is still on the loose.
