Oh, for Crying Out Loud: They've Up and Closed The 6 House

061907_six_house.jpg

Talk about needless panic, city brass of Boston. We let your sensitivity slide during the whole Aqua Teen Hunger Force lite-brite incident because not everyone knew what Aqua Teen was and all. The city has shut down The 6 House.

The Boston Licensing Board shut down the bar and suspended its license.

But why would you close The 6 House because of a bar fight with a bad ending? The 6 House is not Whitey Bulger hangout Triple O's anymore. We're in a new era, theoretically.

Two guys got in a fight. They probably shouldn't have been given more booze, but bar brawls happen all the time. Judging from descriptions of the incident, it sounds like the people fighting took their machismo to needlessly high levels.

That is no reason to close The 6 House. If these guys were going to fight, it could have happened anywhere. Maybe the real problem was a hothead with anger management issues who happened to have a knife. The bar didn't kill Adam Rich.

The owners of The 6 House have to go before the Mayor's Office of Consumer Affairs & Licensing on July 9.

Basically, trying to shut down The 6 House because of this incident is like admitting you believe in ghosts. What, do these people jump when you say the words "Whitey Bulger"? Whitey Bulger! Whitey Bulger! Whitey Bulger! He's long gone. Now give up the ghost!

Pure stupidity.
I suppose we should close down Fenway every time there's a fight in the stands too?

Precisely. In fact, if they took that route, they should have shut it down during last weekend's Red Sox/Giants game. I saw at least three fights right before my very eyes. I've seen the light! Fenway Park is starting fights!

It's ridiculous that Boston is making the 6 House scapegoat for all of Whitey Bulger's sins.
