Miranda Warning: Brattle Trailer Smackdown
The Brattle Trailer Smackdown Contest is open until Sunday, July 1. Get details on the rules and regulations from the Brattle Theatre website There is a $10 entry fee.
Gee whiz, the Brattle Theater has been pugnacious lately given the recent anime-fest Brattle Royale, and now with its Brattle Trailer Smackdown contest.
In this contest, aspiring filmmakers are invited to submit a trailer to the Brattle for a fictional movie. There are only a few creative rules: First, the trailer must be for a film named Miranda. Second, it doesn't matter what the movie is about as long as it features the trailer elements of genre, location, character, action, and a "Wild Card." That doesn't seem too hard, unless you were planning on submitting an avant-garde trailer with a long shot of some guy mowing his yard. And no porn. (Surely you can restrain yourselves.)
The best trailers will screen on Thursday, July 19, at the Brattle's Trailer Treats. The winner of the audience award will receive what the Brattle staff calls a "cash prize and the admiration of your friends."
