--We've been wondering why Luigi Epifania allegedly set that cat on fire. And it seems the reason is that the man is absolutely - allegedly - effin' nuts. DA Conley's office sent out a release about Epifania's arraignment. The cat-torching was part of what seems to be an outright crime spree:
[Epifania] was arraigned Monday in East Boston court on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for a June 11 attack on a 22-year-old Andover man that began with a stabbing in an East Boston alleyway and ended when the victim fled a beating and threats of torture in a Saratoga Street residence.
--A man got stabbed several times in front of Store 24 in Dorchester early this morning. The BPD says that the man got into an argument with two other men, and the argument turned violent.
--Instead of sticking their heads in the fridge or buying a fan, some thieves liberated air conditioners from a CVS Store in Dennis.
--A cold case thawed, and a man faces life in prison almost 20 years after stabbing Patricia Clark, of Lowell, to death. A jury declared Walter Emeney guilty of the crime.
At the time of Clark's death, Emeney was a suspect because he worked with Clark and was "infatuated with her," but police didn't have enough evidence – until now – to make the charges stick.
--Two teenagers died early this morning in separate accidents on the Cape. One woman died when her SUV flipped on Route 6 in Barnstable. In Dennis, another woman died when her car hit a tree and flipped over.
Image of Luigi doll for obvious reasons.
