First, the good news for Yaderlin Hiraldo Jimenez, the wife of missing American soldier and Lawrence resident Alex Jimenez - after all the sturm und drang und red tape, she got her green card!
The Eagle Tribune, which has been running a series on Jimenez and his family spoke with her about how she's feeling. She said, " "I feel relieved and thankful for those who supported me." She also discussed the pain of not knowing what's happened to her husband: "My problem pales in comparison to Alex's. I'd rather be in Santo Domingo and have Alex back because I can at least see him again."
Then the bad news. The Pentagon has changed the status of Jimenez and the other soldier kidnapped with him, Private Byron Fouty, from "whereabouts unknown" to "missing/captured." It's better than the worst classification - KIA - but it shows there's been no progress in finding him.
