-- It appears that the Bonbon Bandit's list of suspected crimes is growing longer by the day. A Dunkin Donuts on Brookline Street was held up on Saturday afternoon (yep, middle of the day on a Saturday - how 'bout that for brazen?) and the suspect matches the description of the man police have been searching for in possible connection to more than 20 commercial robberies. That's right, the possible total is now up to at least 22 - three incidents in Cambridge appear to fit the same pattern as the now 19 robberies in Boston.
In Saturday's robbery, the suspect brandished a gun, stole cash from the register and fled the scene in a green Ford pickup truck.
Police are analyzing the pattern of robberies and the descriptions offered by witnesses. If this is the same person, he's fondest of Sunday and Tuesday crimes (five each), favors robbing places during evening rush hours (10 incidents in the 4:55 pm - 6:47 pm window) and targets specialty shops (candy and gifts) and convenience stores.
Now if police could only get this guy to participate in Sunday's Nametag Challenge, they might be able to crack the case on which they've all been working so hard!
-- A man robbed a Sovereign Bank in Brookline on Monday, and police are continuing to investigate. The man - described as a white male, six feet tall, 40-50 years old - passed a note to a teller that said he had a gun and wanted money.
-- Have you seen Mariah Curry or Kalia Smith? Police are looking for them.
-- A Cambridge man is missing in Vermont, and searches on Monday were halted when thunderstorms in Stratton, Vt. made it impossible to continue. Edgar R. Gonzalez, 29, is believed to be in the waters of Grout Pond - he went missing during a hike late Saturday.
